Better structure is the key to better performance support says Ontuitive

Ontuitive, a world leader in performance support solutions, believes that as interest in performance support grows, organisations must ensure they have the right structure and approach in place, to avoid a repeat of past mistakes.

Rita Ruparel, senior engagement consultant, Ontuitive, said: “for a performance support application to function, workers must be able to locate the support they need within 2 clicks and within 10 seconds. Many organisations have vast pools of resources to assist workers with their jobs and tasks, but very few of those implementing performance support systems have created the right structures to enable workers to quickly locate the right resource.”

“And when performance support fails, workers often embark on a disastrous course of action, adding inefficiency into theirs’ and the wider organisation’s, daily work. Tasks are not completed correctly, time is wasted searching for answers, colleagues are interrupted from their own work, costly helpdesk calls are initiated, compliance can fall apart, errors multiply. Failures in efficiently supporting workers to do their jobs can quickly create deep-rooted failures of the organisation itself,” added Ruparel.

For more than ten years, Ontuitive has been at the forefront of performance support and helped the industry to better understand why performance support can fail and what needs to be done to improve it in the future. The company has a structured approach to developing performance support systems, which it calls its ‘Just Enough’ framework methodology. The methodology is built into the performance support development software used by its customers, and helps performance support application developers to design and build really effective systems that provide just enough ‘context sensitive’ support to each worker at each moment of need.

The company has also revolutionised the cost and time it now takes for performance support applications to be developed and implemented. Ruparel explains: “in the past organisations employed expensive city-consulting firms, often over a prolonged period. By using our methods and structured approach, including identifying and deploying ‘just enough’ context sensitive support, Ontuitive has dramatically reduced the costs and also the long implementation times that have prevented organisations from really getting to grips with performance support.”

Ontuitive is a sponsor of the upcoming LearningLive Conference in London and is hosting a workshop for conference delegates, ‘Performance support in 2 clicks and 10 seconds’. It covers Ontuitive’s ‘Just Enough’ framework methodology and how to operationalise performance support. The workshop is free to attend for conference delegates: places are limited and advance registration is required: Performance support in 2 clicks and 10 seconds.
