The new LearningGuide for ChipSoft Electronic Care Information System (CS-ECIS) offers hospitals significant cost saving benefits on implementation, training and daily use of this system. In the never ending battle for more efficiency, better care quality and services to patients, 50% of all hospitals in the Netherlands has chosen all or several modules of CS-ECIS. ChipSoft markets its software products and services in several European countries and is headquartered in Amsterdam (the Netherlands).

With dedicated content for CS-ECIS, the LearningGuide Electronic Performance Support System (EPSS) offers users direct access to a vast resource of knowledge and information at the moment of need for maximum performance in care and services to patients. The methodology of LearningGuide guarantees permanent availability of workplace support to users of CS-ECIS during implementation, training and daily use. With LearningGuide one reduces the risk of end-users forgetting valuable information and knowledge when performing a task or executing a process, which can easily happen with only traditional classroom training.

LearningGuide for CS-ECIS supports the user with clear examples on how to complete a task or process at the moment of need. Users are motivated and stimulated to solve problems or find answers to emerging questions, with a substantial decrease in helpdesk support. At the same time LearningGuide significantly increases the speed of adoption of CS-ECIS.

"That guarantee for the future is very important to us. Our 500 users can continue to learn at their desktops. With LearningGuide we create our own learning portal. Also new employees get up to speed much faster with our CS-ECIS", says René Brouwers. He is the ICT project manager of the well-known Netherlands Cancer Institute - Antoni van Leeuwenhoek Hospital (NKI-AVL) in Amsterdam.

After a long and careful selection process NKI-AVL chose eight modules of CS-ECIS to replace their existing systems and chose LearningGuide for permanent workplace support on CS-ECIS. "We will already use LearningGuide during our four weeks of training sessions in September this year. From October we will start working with CS-ECIS, and at the same time our users will have direct access to LearningGuide. Our LearningGuide will contain 80% standard CS-ECIS content. The remaining 20% will be developed and customized to our specific need", says René.

The NKI-AVL in Amsterdam worked in close cooperation with the Oosterschelde hospitals in Goes and Zierikzee in the Dutch province of Zeeland. As existing users of the LearningGuide for MS Office 2003 it was obvious to IT-manager Andy Martherus to choose LearningGuide as their workplace support solution for implementation, training and daily use of the new CS-ECIS, with which Oosterschelde hospitals will go live in November.

"We have five locations in Zeeland and we will start training our 2000 users in September with the support of LearningGuide. Like our colleagues of the NKI-AVL in Amsterdam, our users will have permanent access to LearningGuide once we go live with CS-ECIS", says Andy Martherus. "We acquired LearningGuide for CS-ECIS and MS Office 2003 as well as the authoring system LearningGuide Manager. This system enables us to develop additional and new content for our applications. It therefore wasn't hard to decide again for LearningGuide to support our users on CS-ECIS", he says.
