LPI releases preview of the Capability Map Report
The Learning and Performance Institute (LPI) has released a summary of its Capability Map Report, providing a valuable insight into the current skills held amongst learning professionals today.
Based on the self-assessments of hundreds of L&D professionals, the Capability Map Report provides a unique first look at the skills held by a profession that is vital to any organisation working in the 21st Century. The Institute believes this to be the largest view of an L&D professional’s skills against an industry standard.
The Summary of the Initial Report is available now via the LPI website www.thelpi.org and is free to all.
The Capability Map research began in October 2012, with the framework developed by the Institute in consultation with the wider L&D community. The results of the research are highly anticipated. Commenting on the importance of this research Jane Hart, Founder of the Centre for Learning & Performance Technologies, said: "As we move into a new era of workplace learning, learning professionals will need a range of new competencies and skills. The LPI Capability Map will therefore provide a useful framework to help those in the profession understand what is required to become a competent practitioner."
Nigel Pain, former Head of People Development at the BBC and current founder of nigelpaine.com believes the LPI has taken the lead in mapping out the L&D landscape.
"This is the first report that I have ever read that digs deep into the skills that the learning and development community possesses, and reveals the key and core skills it will need to stay vibrant and relevant in the future.
Everyone working in L and D - or indeed HR- will find this report revealing, interesting and challenging. It sets the benchmark for further deep-dives into what makes L and D tick now and in the future. It manages to be both informative, and practical. This lays down the gauntlet in terms of establishing the best possible teams to deliver learning and development that matters and impacts. I highly recommended.”
The LPI will be releasing the full 22 page report on Monday 15th July 2013, and will be available for free to LPI members or to purchase by non-members.
Further information about the Capability Map is available on the LPI website: www.thelpi.org or by contacting the LPI direct.
