IITT Launches New Accreditation Programme: Learning Technology Accreditation
The Institute of IT Training is delighted to announce the launch of its new accreditation programme: Learning Technology Accreditation.
The Learning Technology Accreditation is designed for companies who provide communication, information and related technologies that can be used to support learning, teaching, and assessment.
Encompassing broader scope than e-learning, it includes:
• Generic Content, which incorporates generic courseware, templates and models
• Tools which includes authoring, performance support, virtual labs, simulation, collaboration, modelling, and assessment tools
• Infrastructure which includes LMS/ LCMS/CLS, enterprise content management/ performance management, competence management, e-skills portfolio management/ e-assessment, and social networking
• Development - the facilitation of client content and bespoke development of solutions using one or multiple learning technologies and consultancy, (services that support the client in the application of learning technologies) which includes strategy, vision and direction, engagement models, deployment, advice and guidance.
IITT Chief Executive, Colin Steed has explained the decision to introduce the new programme, “L&D Managers are under constant pressure to deliver ‘more for less’, the need for skills has never been higher - whilst the budgets have never been more restricted. The inevitable consequence is that organisations in both the public and private sectors are looking for IT to play an ever increasing role in the process of developing skills and building capability.”
He went on to say, “At the same time, the application of technology to transfer skills has evolved enormously in the last few years - it's no longer restricted to e-learning. The IITT's new Learning Technologies Accreditation provides real value to both L&D Managers and Learning Technology Providers by developing the vision of what constitutes realistic outcomes, categorising the different technologies, accrediting the strong suppliers, and ensuring that organisations have the capacity to deliver on the expectations they establish.”
New trends are emerging that make this programme relevant to an ever increasing number of organisations currently operating, one of these being the centralisation of learning and development departments, which were once distributed across whole organisations but are now more centralised services throughout the organisation.
Furthermore, there is now a far greater focus on informal training, research shows that 70% of training is now informal, 20% is performed by monitoring/ coaching and just 10% by formal learning and technology is pivotal to this.
The first company to achieve Learning Technology Accreditation is Saffron Interactive, who have had a long association with the IITT. Managing Director of Saffron Interactive; Hanif Sazen said, “We have been supporters of the Institute for many years. We believe that the IITT has been instrumental in raising standards in our industry and helping organisations like Saffron to deliver world class solutions to our clients. Membership of the Institute helps our people to maintain the high standards that our clients deserve and expect, and helps our clients to buy with confidence. We are proud to be part of the new accreditation programme and would like to thank everyone involved.”
