Quality stamp for QEK Global Solutions

QEK Global Solutions, the UK's leading vehicle management specialists, have just received accreditation by the Institute of IT Training for commitment to high quality and process improvement in the provision of internal IT training.

Tony Moss, director of the Institute of IT Training presented the certificate to Fiona Twitchen, QEK's IT Training Manager and John Bishop, IT Training Executive last week at the company's Oxfordshire Headquarters.

Tony Moss commented "this is an unusual award in that there are very few businesses outside of the field of IT training who gain this kind of certification. But it demonstrates how seriously QEK takes its own IT training and that the business recognises how much benefit can be gained from having a planned and well supported approach to training its system users."

QEK manages vehicle fleets on behalf of motor manufacturer clients, and relies on its Vehicle Management System (VMS) to track and control a vehicle through its life on the various fleets. IT Director, Rob Steele said "We would expect to be managing over 100,000 vehicles over the course of a year, so we place almost total reliance on our VMS to track these vehicles through the different stages of their life cycle with us. Our client-facing fleet co-ordinators need to be expert system users to manage their clients fleets, but not only that, our workshop staff need just as much accessibility and information about the vehicles. The approach to in-house training needs to be thorough and needs to match the business needs. For example. we took on a new segment of demonstration fleet management business with Renault UK early last year, but before we agreed to go-live with the client, we made sure we had recruited and trained the new staff in all aspects of the VMS. This is where Fiona's and John's skills come into play and where their methodical approach to matching training to the needs of the business really pays off."

Both Fiona Twitchen and John Bishop are members of the Institute of IT Training and their next goal is to work towards Gold standard certification. Fiona is passionate about delivering "best practice" through the business. "If you can identify where you are doing well and use the employees to transfer this knowledge to other parts of the business, then you are in a position to deliver real added-value for our clients, and provide great job satisfaction to the system users as the same time. Everyone benefits. We have found great value from going through this accreditation route and want to move on to the next level as soon as we can."
