Learn Appeal, the e-learning charity, and Closer Still, the organisation behind Learning Technologies welcome an international special guest to this week’s flagship event in London. Eric Kimori, CEO of Complitkenya, will attend the event courtesy of their generous sponsorship, to share insights into learning in rural African communities and how the Learn Appeal capsule is already making a difference to people’s lives.

92% of the local community in Kimori’s area of Kenya have either limited or no access to the Internet. Where there is access, it is prohibitively expensive. The unique Learn Appeal capsule, developed by Appitierre, enables access to e-learning content and resources offline. It is currently being used in a pilot programme to aid skills development across the region, bringing interactive, real-time learning to the local people for the first time in a free community-driven environment.

Donald H Taylor, Chairman of Learning Technologies and the Learning and Skills Group said, “The work Learn Appeal is doing both at home in the UK and internationally is ground-breaking. The Capsule is such a unique solution and it’s incredibly exciting to see it now being used in action. As long-term supporters of this charity, we feel that bringing Eric to the UK is a fantastic opportunity for the attendees of Learning Technologies 2019 to hear first hand just what a difference it is making to people’s learning and skills all over the world. And of course, to find out how they can get more involved in furthering this excellent cause.”

The work Learn Appeal is doing continues to attract international support. Rick and Leslie Zanotti, President and VP of Relate Corp and co-founders of eLearn Chat are donating their time and money to fly into London for this week’s Learning Technologies event and support the charity in the exhibition.

Jonathan Satchell, Chairman of the Board of Trustees for Learn Appeal, commented, “As a charity we rely on the time of our volunteers to help spread the word about what Learn Appeal is doing and we’re delighted with the response we’ve had this year. Learning Technologies is without doubt the blue ribbon event in the learning and development events calendar. And to have so many volunteers from far and wide highlights the importance of the work we are doing. It is wonderful to welcome Eric Kimori in person, so attendees can hear how the Capsule is helping Complitkenya already. I can’t encourage people enough to pop along and say hello and to hear just what learning is like in some of these rural environments. And I’d like to thank Closer Still once again for their generous sponsorship and unwavering support.”

You can meet Eric Kimori along with the other Learn Appeal volunteers and staff on Stand M65 at Learning Technologies London this week.
