The Learning Awards, run by the Learning and Performance Institute (LPI) honours the best in the learning industry. Nominees and industry gurus gathered in the Dorchester Hotel on Feb 6th to celebrate and recognise excellence.

With a record number of submissions from individuals and organisations from across the globe, the winners were selected from a competitive field of entrants, all of which demonstrated exceptional vision and depth in providing learning solutions with a proven business impact. The Learning and Performance Institute assembled a collection of industry visionaries to form the independent judging panel, chaired by Nigel Paine, Colin Steed and Alan Bellinger, who combed through hundreds of submissions to select the best.

In awarding City & Guilds Kineo with the top honour, the Judges said:

"Kineo has had a massive year. Now part of City & Guilds, it has opened offices around the world, and launched new products; all this whilst increasing the revenue substantially. The company’s reputation and approach focuses on developing a deep understanding of clients and their needs, and becoming a strategic partner rather than an external supplier. Kineo the go-to provider for a number of key companies, and is always trying to delight customers – as shown by its high customer retention.

Kineo has co-developed Totara LMS out of the work done with Moodle, and with over 1 million users, is now setting up innovative on-line academies to deliver and manage apprenticeship programmes. The company has embarked on an ambitious programme of open sourcing some major products such as the Adapt authoring tool for multi-device elearning, which will add value to the industry as a whole.

This is a mould breaking company with very strong values and culture. It is developing a string of new products, coupled with new approaches to delivery of learning. This year has marked a step change in Kineo’s operations as the company moves into a new era in terms of company ownership, geographical reach, and technological innovation.

This latest award does the treble for City & Guilds Kineo, now concurrent holders of:

  • Elearning Development Company of the Year – Elearning Awards
  • Number 1 ranked US Elearning company – Trainingindustry.com
  • Learning Provider of the Year – Learning Awards

City & Guilds Kineo Director Stephen Walsh commented:

We are truly honoured to be recognised by the Learning Awards judges for our values of customer service, innovation and global reach and insights. It’s a great testament to the impact we make for our clients, and the tireless work of our global teams. No other company has held all three major industry recognitions at the same time, and we’re immensely proud for our team and our clients.
