Nikon gets the picture with Kineo product knowledge e-learning
Kineo and Nikon have today published a detailed case study on how they jointly developed an engaging suite of e-learning modules on Nikon’s leading range of cameras, and delivered these via an online dealer learning platform using a custom version of Moodle LMS. Find out more at WOLCE on 30th September and 1st October where Kineo will be exhibiting.
Nikon, the leading camera manufacturer, have long provided training to a large audience of resellers, traditionally delivered via classroom based training sessions, store visits and product guides. Nikon decided to investigate an alternative approach to reach a potential target audience of up to 100,000 store staff.
E-learning offered several potential benefits over Nikon’s traditional training:
- The ability to reach a wide audience instantaneously
- Cost savings over classroom based training
- Measurable results on take up and performance
- The potential to create a community of Nikon learners
Kineo developed a high quality e-learning design that supported Nikon’s brand values by working in partnership with the Nikon team and using rapid prototyping approaches. The dealer learning portal was based on a custom Moodle LMS platform also developed and hosted by Kineo. The Nikon iQ portal and e-leaning has been well received by Nikon Europe and dealers. A lot of interest has built up and the next stage is developing multi language versions of both the portal and content.
Nikon commented:
“Kineo has developed a platform that delivers on every aspect of our initial brief, furthermore their fresh approach to some of our initial ideas means we now have a training package that offers more than anything else within the photo industry.”
Kineo partner Steve Rayson said: “We’re delighted to partner with Nikon. We believe that our visual design approach to product knowledge, combined with Moodle for learning portals, is a powerful combination for product knowledge, and we’re delighted to see such positive results from users.”
