Kallidus helps Education for Health deliver life-changing blended learning
Education for Health has selected Kallidus LMS to support the delivery of the wide range of courses and workshops it provides to healthcare professionals. The Software as a Service (SaaS) solution will enable the charity to extend its provision of flexible bite-sized blended learning programmes and will enhance the user experience. In addition, students and course commissioners will be able to purchase training directly via the e-commerce enabled platform.
Education for Health has trained over 65,000 healthcare professionals across the UK who play a vital role in providing high-quality patient care within the NHS. Every year the charity delivers training to several thousand professionals, in particular to practice nurses caring for patients living with long-term conditions such as asthma, diabetes and cardiovascular disease. It also provides education and training programmes in partnership with pharmaceutical companies and other charities.
Education for Health had outgrown its existing learning system as a result of the courses increasingly evolving in response to the demand for more sophisticated and flexible training and online learning. What started out initially as a project to replace a virtual learning platform has become a much more significant project for the charity.
Melanie Burton, Head of Technology Enhanced Learning Development at Education for Health explains: “We are really excited about having one platform that is easy to use and that will bring together the purchasing, administration, delivery, reporting and evaluation of the education and training we provide in one centralised system.
“Our commitment to embracing innovative learning technologies like Kallidus LMS will enable us to provide a first-class user experience and will ultimately help us to make a greater impact in transforming the lives of people living with long-term conditions.”
Kallidus was selected from a shortlist of suppliers. “We were looking for a best-practice solution. Key factors for us in the selection process were Kallidus’ strong reputation in the marketplace and the company’s willingness to work in partnership with us to provide a continuously evolving solution that will stand the test of time. We also felt the system would empower us to significantly improve delivery of vital learning to healthcare professionals,”added Melanie.
There is often a tendency for students studying remotely to feel isolated. In recognition of this, Education for Health plans to use the Kallidus LMS communications and social collaboration tools to help to develop a sense of ‘community’ among the learners.
Said Rob Caul, CEO of Kallidus: “This is a very exciting LMS project for us and strengthens our capability to provide solutions that empower organisations to sell and deliver external learning programmes more effectively to their customers. We are delighted to be supporting Education for Health in the vital role it plays in improving patient care.”
