Royal Air Force selects e2train for its e-learning proof of concept trial
UK based e-learning provider e2train have beaten significant competition with its Learning Management System and Authoring Tool, Kallidus®, to be selected by the RAF to host its E-Learning Proof of Concept Trial.
The RAF already uses technology extensively within many of their training courses and therefore recognise the benefits of this delivery method, they are now looking to expand its use further within the RAF by embracing e-learning.
The trial will span up to 24 months and will be conducted by members of the Computer Based Training Squadron at RAF Halton in Buckinghamshire. Its objectives are to assess the capabilities of e-learning in delivering core training more effectively to deployed operations and reducing the time training takes from the function of the military unit and learner's families. The trial will explore the skill sets required of students, instructors and course designers in developing and using e-learning, as well as addressing the overall implications of e-learning for the RAF.
Kallidus®7, the latest version of e2train's Learning Management System, will be used by the RAF to launch courses to users, monitor usage and results, and generate reports for the training function. The Authoring System, Kallidus®6, will enable the RAF to rapidly develop courseware without the need for a large training overhead.
Full consultancy services will be provided throughout the duration of the project by elearnity, the leading independent e-learning experts. Working in partnership with Computer Based Training Squadron, elearnity will provide specialist advice to ensure that the objectives of the trial are met.
Squadron Leader Keith Watt of the RAF, said "E-learning represents a new way of learning and its impact on training and education within the RAF could be huge. In order to develop its corporate knowledge of e-learning, the RAF has decided to contract with a specialist e-learning provider. After running an open competition, we chose e2train to partner the trial. e2train's response to the contract requirements proved to be extremely competitive and the desire to form a partnership with the RAF, to the benefit of both parties, was evident. This is a new area for the RAF to explore and e2train's proven products, and track record, made them an ideal choice for our trial."
