A Cumbrian people development company has been named as one of the very best places to work in the UK in a prestigious business award. Impact International, headquartered in the Lake District, was ranked 9th in the Sunday Times Best Companies to Work For at the official awards ceremony on March 11th. Impact is delighted with the result, which is the company's best placing yet in an increasingly competitive and challenging environment.

The unique and comprehensive Best Companies survey is a barometer of workplace opinion based on the responses of almost 35,000 employees across 565 small and medium sized enterprises, and examines the key components of a happy, engaged and successful workplace.

This accolade for Impact closely follows the news that the organisation has once again achieved Best Companies Three Star Accreditation Status for 2009 which recognises the company's 'extraordinary' workplace engagement practices, including exceptional motivation, inspiration and staff retention levels.

Despite the current global economic crisis, Impact has continued to do well, recording its highest profits yet in 2008, whilst also announcing the launch of its newest office in Hong Kong and a social enterprise 'Impact Beyond' in the same year. To ensure the company maintains a strong position to meet future challenges, Impact has appointed a new innovation team to ensure it stays ahead of its competition and will appoint a global leadership team in April 2009 to implement a number of strategic goals.

"Great places to work are made up of great people - at Impact we have spent 29 years attracting and retaining the best talent in our industry. We are proud to have come ninth in the UK Best Companies to Work For Awards and we will continue to strive to make a real difference through the work that we do with our clients globally. I would like to extend a personal thanks to Impact's people, our clients and supporters globally." David Williams, Founder and Managing Director
