A strong display from Growth Engineering’s retail clients has led to three being shortlisted in 2016’s Training Journal Awards.

Established in 2006, the purpose of the Training Journal Awards is to promote excellence, best practice and innovation in Learning & Development, and to highlight the importance of this area in today's business climate.

Growth Engineering’s submissions were made jointly with some of its clients who use its gamified, social learning management system, The Academy LMS. The Academy LMS was named as the #1 LMS for the Retail Sector in 2016 by eLearning analyst Craig Weiss.

House of Fraser is shortlisted in the ‘Best Use of Technology in Learning’ category. Growth Engineering built ‘House of Learning’ for them, an LMS which they use to deliver training to their nationwide workforce.

It focuses on structured role-based learning paths, personal development and just-in-time business-focused resources. The programme’s focus on engaging the learner has proven cost-effective, leading to increased performance and reduced staff turnover.

Steinhoff UK Retail has been shortlisted alongside Growth Engineering in the ‘Best Training Partnership’ category. Their platform is named ‘Steinhoff Learning Store’ and is used to organise a truly blended learning programme for Steinhoff’s UK businesses – Bensons for Beds and Harveys.

Growth Engineering and Steinhoff have been working together for five years, in a partnership which has benefited both organisations. Steinhoff have recently invested another £1 million into the project to build the 9,000-square-foot Steinhoff Development Centre, complete with mock stores, warehouses and customer homes.

GAME Digital has been shortlisted for ‘Best Sales Training Programme’. They deliver training to all of their stores around the UK through ‘GAME Learning Zone’, which was built by Growth Engineering.

GAME has fully utilised the gamification and social functionality of their Learning Zone to engage their learners and increase sales performance. Their learners use the platform as a social network, forming a community which shares news and best practice.

Those who have successfully reached the shortlist will be interviewed in London next month. The winners will then be revealed at the Gala Dinner at The Brewery in December.

Debbie Carter, Training Journal’s editor, said: “Yet again I’ve been impressed by the variety of applications received and the commitment of the L&D people that lies behind every unique story. TJ extends best wishes to the finalists and thanks all those who entered this year.”

Juliette Denny, Managing Director of Growth Engineering, said: “To see so many of our awesome clients honoured on this shortlist is nothing short of astounding! We’ll be supporting each of them 100% to absolutely smash the interview stage and win them the recognition they deserve!”
