Investing in new skills will help shorten the recession says Global Knowledge

Global Knowledge, the world's largest independent IT training provider, is calling on businesses worldwide to strengthen investments in learning and development which it says will help to lead the world's economies out of recession. The business is also investing in new ITIL Service Management and VMWare Virtualization Technology instructors.

    "Businesses understand the importance of investing in skills and now is the time to increase learning initiatives, not to decrease them. New skills drive innovation and progress and, while much focus is centred around the credit crunch and getting finance flowing, commitment to investing in new skills will be one of the most important things that businesses can do to shorten the recession," said Global Knowledge's Janet Way.

    Global Knowledge is seeing growth in ITIL Service Management and in VMWare Virtualization Technology courses. "Business is currently investing more in these areas and Global Knowledge's addition of two top instructors in these fields, Steve Pratt and Scott Vessey, will help us to meet demand," added Way.

    Steve Pratt is an experienced Service Management professional who has many years of management and commercial experience including providing IT support to UN operations around the globe. Steve has worked on multi-million pound IT and IT skills deals in both the UK and overseas, built a run a data centre from scratch and worked on a large IT project for a major airline.

    Steve specialises in Service Management training and consultancy and is an accredited ISEB/EXIN Service Management lecturer. He has built a reputation as an exceptionally successful and sought-after lecturer for ITIL and ISO/IEC 20000 training and consultancy. He is a member of the itSMF UK Qualifications & Certifications ESC and is a member of the examination panel for APM Group V3 examination board.

    Scott Vessey is a VMware ESX and VirtualCenter instructor and holds the VMware Certified Professional (VCP) and VMware Certified Instructor (VCI) certifications. Scott is also one of a limited number of 'Mentor' VCIs used by VMware to assess other VMWare instructors. Scott Vessey is a regular contributor to VMware community forums and an inaugural member of the VMware Authorised Training Centre (VATC) Technical Advisory Council where he advises on VMware courseware and lab development.

    Prior to virtualization, Scott was a Microsoft Certified Trainer (MCT) and Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer (MCSE), delivering training in Microsoft Windows, Exchange, Systems Management Server and Cluster Service.
