Coaching and mentoring industry looks to the future

Significant steps towards active co-operation between professional bodies. A joint meeting between four of the coaching and mentoring industry's leading professional bodies is set to take place in London on Tuesday April 27.

European Mentoring and Coaching Council (EMCC) secretary Julie Hay, International Coach Federation co-president Richard Bentley and Katherine Tulpa, who chairs the Association for Coaching will each lead a small delegation from each organisation. They will be joined by representatives from the Coaching Psychology Forum, part of the British Psychological Society.

The delegates will be discussing just one topic: "How might the four organisations work together, with others, in the interests of the coaching and mentoring community and their clients?"

This groundbreaking event was initiated on behalf of the EMCC by its Membership and Marketing Committee chairperson Eric Parsloe. Eric, who will chair the meeting said: "I am delighted that each organisation has shown a positive desire to develop a co-operative approach to the interests of everyone involved in coaching and mentoring.

"This is a practical example of the EMCC's inclusive philosophy. We firmly believe that as far as coaching and mentoring is concerned, the idea of competing professional bodies is outmoded and unhelpful and we are committed to exploring new ways of working together to take the industry forward."
