The event, to be held at Sheffield Hallam University on February 9, is the fifth in a series of successful Mentoring and Coaching Research days. These are held jointly by the university's Mentoring and Coaching Research Unit and the European Mentoring and Coaching Council (EMCC).

      The European Mentoring & Coaching Council (EMCC) has launched the International Journal of Mentoring & Coaching: an e-journal compiling the world's leading coaching and mentoring research as well as commentary on professional practice issues. The International Journal of Mentoring & Coaching contains contributions from many eminent academics and commentators.

      European Mentoring and Coaching Council has launched a consultation project as first step in creating European standards for professional coaching and mentoring practice.

    • Leading UK authorities on coaching and mentoring to hold open workshop on professional standards and ethics

      Representatives of the leading UK organisations in the coaching and mentoring field will meet to discuss a much needed common set of professional standards for the profession. The workshop 'Towards Professional Standards and Ethics', to be held 2 July 2003, is sponsored jointly by the Oxford School of Coaching and Mentoring and the European Mentoring and Coaching Council.

      The European Mentoring Centre (EMCC) the primary body representing mentoring in employment since 1992, is to become the European Mentoring and Coaching Council (EMCC), with a wider remit and a much-expanded range of activities. The move comes in the wake of extended discussion within the coaching and mentoring community about the establishment and recognition of good practice.
