ESN and Epic team up for EU e-learning

BrightonLearning NewsEpic

The EU has actively promoted e-learning for nearly a decade, but the European Commission itself has so far made very little use of e-learning.

With help from European Service Network and its British sub-contractor, Epic, the Commission's Directorate-General for Enterprise and Industry has recently launched the first in a series of e-learning modules for the 3,000 staff of the EU-wide Euro Info Centre network.

ESN and Epic are developing the e-learning modules for publication on the network's intranet, to complement regular face-to-face training events in Brussels and at national level.

The first module deals with EIC support for international business co-operation. It covers both the business support process and use of the network's IT tool, the Business Co operation Database. The module contains approximately two hours of learning which can be tackled all at once or topic by topic.

The eLearning was built using Rapid Create. Rapid Create is the new e-learning creation tool from Epic. Designed for ease of use and to produce accessible content 'out of the box' Rapid Create adds itself seamlessly into Microsoft Word 2003 and above.

Early feedback from target users has been very positive:

"Interesting, intuitive, modern, well done course. Looking forward to new modules." EIC in Rzeszow, Poland

"I believe that now I can start using the BCD without making serious mistakes." EIC in Rhodes, Greece

"It is clear, easy to use, practical." EIC in Southampton, United Kingdom.
