A finalist at the prestigious Health Service Journal awards, Oxford University Hospitals NHS Trust is highly commended for its significant efficiency in training and development, supported by Enterprise Study’s powerful compliance management suite.

On Wednesday night, at the Grosvenor House in London, over 150 shortlisted healthcare organisations attended the ceremony for the HSJ Efficiency Awards. Oxford University Hospitals NHS Trust (OUH), a first time nominee in its particular category, received huge praise as a runner up for the Efficiency in Training and Development award.

This well-deserved achievement not only underlines OUH as a leader of innovation, but reflects its continuous work to deliver tangible improvements to the healthcare industry whilst maintaining the highest level of patient care.  Supporting this feat is Enterprise Study’s Learning and Compliance Management System, which has enabled substantial cost and time savings to the Trust since its implementation in June 2012.

With the previous concern of competent staff taking significant time away from clinical care re-training, OUH’s solution was to make a paradigm shift to assessing staff competence, rather than attendance, using Enterprise Study’s Assessment Manager module.  This has now greatly enhanced how the statutory and mandatory programme is being delivered to a workforce of over 10,000 people across the 4 hospital sites.

The benefits to OUH of now using competence assessment tools include:

  • Increased access to training and competency assessment through self-service learning capabilities
  • Greater flexibility through new programmes and wider access to staff through a 24 hour cloud based service
  • Staff given the opportunity to demonstrate their competence, negating the need for re-training
  • Measurement of competence rather than attendance giving greater assurance, as well as significant cost and time savings

Henry Jodrell, Managing Director of ES also notes: “Our vision is to help organisations transform their learning and development through the deployment of the Enterprise Study LMS. To be a finalist in this highly competitive award is a great testament to Ian MacKenzie and the OUH team.”
