Southern Health NHS Foundation Trust (SHFT) has developed a Mobile Assessments App to work in conjunction with the Enterprise Study LMS to deliver key assessments to staff in a far more cost-effective way.

SHFT works hard to deliver a blended learning programme for staff that makes it easier for it to acquire the training and skills it needs, particularly statutory and mandatory skills. To do this, it relies on Enterprise Study's eLMS. Fundamental to the programme are the tools that eLMS provides to deliver hosted eLearning, eAssessments and Compliance Management.

Compliance Manager in particular has shown significant benefit. Staff can access the system online anytime, it does not have to be accessed via a NHS computer. In Hampshire, the majority of staff works out in the community not on NHS premises, so this is a huge benefit.

The Mobile Assessments App is the next arm to their blended learning programme. It works in conjunction with the ES Assessment Manager module. The Mobile Assessment App delivers specific assessment functionality tailored to the smart phone environment, negating the need even for a computer. This seamlessly compliments mobile working in an organisation's IT strategy.

The App focuses on specific content and allows an individual to access assessments and automatically updates their training record. Some content is available uniquely via the mobile app, such as the Health & Safety eLearning content, which is linked to specific learning outcomes. The pilot for the Mobile Assessment App begins this month.

Richard House, Deputy Head of Leadership, Education & Development (LEAD), explains, "The Strategic Health Authority has chosen to work with Southern Health Foundation Trust to spearhead contemporary blended learning programmes and drive greater efficiencies and cost savings because of the pioneering way SHFT are approaching their L&D programmes. We couldn't achieve this without Enterprise Study, we just wouldn't have the flexibility or the tools to deliver."
