eLearning Africa 2016: Call for proposals
African education experts want to hear from anyone with innovative ideas about how technology can help transform the continent.
The experts will be at eLearning Africa 2016, Africa's leading conference on technology assisted learning, where they will discuss the role of technology in achieving the African Union's vision of a "transformed continent." The theme for the conference, which is scheduled to take place in Cairo from May 24 - 26, will be 'Making Vision Reality' and the organisers are planning "a comprehensive and in-depth discussion about how the combination of learning and technology can transform Africa."
Rebecca Stromeyer, the Chief Executive of conference organisers ICWE and founder of eLearning Africa, said:
"Africa is on the move. African economies are growing. Governments and businesses are looking at the future with optimism. The African Union has set out its Vision 2063, with a view of what Africa might look like in fifty years. But how can Africa be truly transformed? How can education and technology contribute to the transformation? And what role could a transformed Africa play in shaping tomorrow's world?
"Imaginative answers to the questions which will be asked at this year's eLearning Africa are vital for the future prospects of every African country and for almost every sector of the economy. How can we make growth permanent and ensure that African economies and businesses don't slide back into decline? How can we accelerate the pace of change? What needs to be done? What resources are available? How can the African Union's vision of a transformed continent become a reality?
"This is a discussion for everyone because it's about everyone's future. Whatever your area of expertise, whether you’re working with ICT for agriculture, training teachers online, developing educational tools for mobile or technology-enhanced learning, or just someone with a view about how the combination of technology and education can shape the future, come and share your ideas with us. eLearning Africa is an inspirational community of practice and an extraordinary network of people, including investors, entrepreneurs and policy-makers, who are committed to spreading the benefits of learning through technology. We want to hear about your ideas, plans, programmes, initiatives, research and community engagement. Join us and take part in helping to shape the future."
Anyone interested in making a presentation at eLearning Africa, should submit their proposal before the deadline of January 18, 2016. Full details of how to submit a proposal and how to register for eLearning Africa are available on the conference website: www.elearning-africa.com.
