On Friday 2 November eCom staff accompanied by clients celebrated the new office launch at Dickson Street. Clive Shepherd a well known Learning Technologist was our guest speaker for the afternoon and provided a thought provoking insight into the future of learning and collaboration. Over the last 30 years Clive has built up a great deal of expertise and knowledge in technology-assisted learning and communications and remarked "Technology is set to play an even bigger role in workplace learning, as employers look to deliver more flexible solutions with greater cost-efficiencies. From what I can see, eCom are well placed to support this process, with an excellent range of products and services."

For eCom, growth throughout 2012 has been a major focus and this is reflected in both their client base and product offering.  In tandem with an increased market share eCom hopes to crack a milestone turnover figure of £1m for the first time.

Wendy Edie, Managing Director of eComScotland, prides the eLearning company’s recent fortunes to a commitment and investment in research and development during the economic downturn. She said: “We knew we had to go for growth and in an industry such as ours, constantly innovating your offering is essential. With the support from Scottish Enterprise, we had the opportunity to really focus on research and development and that is now paying dividends.”

eCom has also received support in the form of a Regional Selective Assistance Award and a loan of £50,000 from the East of Scotland Investment Fund. These cash injections helped it secure new premises where the company can grow its headcount by a further 20 in the next three years.

Allan Isdale, Associate Director for Technology Enhanced Learning Development at CIPP comments “I am always enthused by eLearning organisations expanding and even more so when they are based inScotland. It was also great to hear Clive Shepherd. His unique insights into our industry are always very informative.
