eCom Scotland were among the eLearning industry leaders, winning a Gold Award at the eLearning Awards, held at the Marriott Hotel Grosvenor Square, London last Thursday evening.

The eLearning Awards is the industry standard for all those involved in eLearning which this year attracted over 200 entries from 20 countries and almost 500 people gathered to celebrate the strength and depth of successful eLearning that is taking place across the globe. 16 award categories produced a record 39 winners and showcased the astonishing range and quality of eLearning.

Celebrating in style eCom scooped Gold for the category Excellence in the Production of Learning Content – Private Sector. In partnership with engineering company Howden, eCom produced 39 modules to create the Howden eLearning Academy. The project enabled eCom to demonstrate their flair in the eLearning arena in creating a suite of interactive, engaging modules. Adding in video to the content helped explain such phenomena as vibration, with a clip of the notorious Tacoma Narrows bridge collapse. Animation is deployed extensively to illustrate many engineering principles. Learners can see graphs moving and items flexing and control the animations to explore the theories being imparted. Based around Howden’s traditional course learning plans eCom turned these into online learning modules for their ‘Developing Engineering Excellence Programme.” For a snippet click go to(http://www.ecomscotland.com/elearning/howden_demo_module/index.html)
