DuPont Sustainable Solutions (DSS) and Captain Chesley B. "Sully" Sullenberger, III have entered into an agreement to collaborate on a new offering to help increase safety awareness and prepare employees to "expect the unexpected." The celebrated pilot, aviation safety expert and author also will be a keynote speaker at the DuPont Sustainable Solutions Forum, August 1, in Virginia Beach.

"Captain Sullenberger not only shares DuPont's passion for safety, but he also has shown the world in an unforgettable way how lifelong safety discipline and expertise can save lives," said DuPont Sustainable Solutions President James R. Weigand. "We are very pleased to have this opportunity to work with Captain Sullenberger."

Sullenberger became an international hero on Jan. 15, 2009, when he and his crew safely guided U.S. Airways Flight 1549 to an emergency water landing in New York City's Hudson River. The events of Flight 1549 will be analyzed in the new offering and show how life lessons, leadership and a commitment to safety helped Sullenberger and his crew respond effectively and save the lives of all 155 people aboard the plane.

As a keynote speaker at the DuPont Sustainable Solutions Forum on Aug. 1, Sullenberger will share his insights on safety culture, drawing upon his experience as an educator, accident investigator and founder and CEO of Safety Reliability Methods, a consulting company dedicated to management, safety, performance and reliability consulting.

"DuPont's commitment to protecting people is a model for other corporations to emulate, and I am proud to be a part of that process," said Sullenberger.
