Develop Training Wins Third Successive Intake of United Utilities Gas Apprentices
Building on previous achievements, Develop Training Ltd is looking forward to supporting United Utilities Gas Apprentices for a 3rd successive year. The national training company is hoping this year’s intake will far exceed national average achievement, as United Utilities candidates have in the past.
The new intake of 15 apprentices started their training at Burn Hall on 3rd September 2007 and will be with Develop Training for the next two to three years. Individuals within the mixed-age group will undertake different pathways within the gas industry, ultimately to become fully qualified gas engineers. In accordance with strict Learning Skills Council requirements, training includes on and off-job experience, regular progress reviews, college attendance and assessment, all of which are wholly managed by Develop Training’s Gas Apprentice team at Derby.
Paul Armstrong, who manages the United Utilities apprentices said, “This is a fantastic opportunity to continue to work closely in partnership with one of our largest customers and takes our UU apprentice contingent up to 45. The Gas team has worked very hard over the past year in improving the service to our customer and was awarded a grade 2 (good) in Develop Training’s first OFSTED inspection in May. We do take great pride in working closely with United Utilities to support their apprentices, as these young people are the future of our industry, and we sincerely look forward to supporting them over the coming years.”
