Clifford Chance, one of the world's leading law firms, has become the second of Redtray’s legal sector clients to win an award for Excellence in Learning and Development this year. Hill Dickinson was the first client, picking up an IT training award earlier this year.

Clifford Chance's Global Video Knowledge-Sharing Project won the Excellence in Learning and Development prize at the Law Society Excellence Awards 2012, which recognisethe outstanding achievements of the legal profession in England and Wales.

The initiative uses video to capture and share the knowledge and experience of senior partners on what it takes to be a great lawyer and trusted advisor. It breaks new ground in the delivery of legal training and education as no other law firm is using video in this way.

"We are delighted to have won this award, and grateful to Redtray for their imaginative design that has enabled us to share tacit skills knowledge throughout the firm more powerfully than ever before," said Kevin Bell, the firm's eLearning Manager.

Redtray created theengaging and intuitive platform that Clifford Chance uses to house and market thevideos. It allows their learning and development team to reach over 6,000 users in 24 countries, and to track usage and learner satisfaction. Learners, lawyers and non-lawyers alike, can dip in and out of the videos when they have the time, inclination or need.

The project has become very successful and as many as 1,906 hours of the more than 25 hours of video on offer has been watched by learners. Vicky Jones, Managing Director of eLearning division at Redtray believes that such successful take-up is due to aninformal nature of the training programme

She says, "attractive for a learner in this project is the informal, self-paced and a peer-to-peer way of training. Staff can gain information they need just in time when it's required, and this is what matters most for learners in a time-pressured work environment. Clifford Chance captured their internal experts' insights and made sure their knowledge is easily shared with the learners."

She adds, "We're very happy Clifford Chance was able to achieve such positive results by encouraging this informal way of learning among their employees. We're very proud to be a part of the project which has won them this excellent award."
