Bristol, UKLearning NewsCivica

CM Group, a global leader in the field of innovative learning solutions consisting of interactive eLearning and mLearning, has designed and produced the collection of eLearning courses to accompany the UK Hydrographic Office’s (UKHO) global launch of their new range of digital navigation products.

The UKHO produces a worldwide series of some 3,500 paper nautical charts and 200 publications under the ADMIRALTY brand, and also provides the most comprehensive global maritime Electronic Navigational Charts (ENCs) service available.

The maritime industry is currently undergoing a significant transition from paper to electronic charts and the UKHO wanted to ensure the provision of accurate and comprehensive training to all mariners.

After a rigorous tender process, the UKHO selected CM Group as its partner to design and create eLearning courses which would be used to support users in getting the most out of ENCs. CM Group produced the training materials using their Luminosity Studio eLearning authoring tool which enabled CM Group to produce high quality and engaging HTML5 based eLearning courses quickly and cost effectively.

Developing HTML5 based eLearning courses enables all users to access the training resources, ranging from those who use even the oldest browsers, such as IE 6, to those users that utilise the latest IE versions as well as Chrome, Safari and Firefox.

By supporting the widest range technology and devices, the UKHO will maximise their training reach and ROI, enabling them to pioneer a forward looking learning and training strategy.
