Atlas, the leading international learning and skills provider, has strengthened its presence in the United States, with the appointment of Lambert Ebot as regional manager, USA.

Based in Atlas’s new office in Houston, Mr Ebot’s appointment will both increase support to the company’s existing clients in the USA and strengthen the company’s drive to become global leader in innovative learning compliance and competency workforce solutions. Mr Ebot will head up the company’s US business operations, with new and existing clients within the energy sector.

Mr Ebot brings with him a wealth of business development experience in the safety sector gained from previous senior roles in HSE and risk management at Environmental Resources Management Inc and IRC Risk and Safety LLC, which will augment Atlas’s most successful products and learning initiatives, which it will be rolling out to the American market.

Atlas already has well established relationships with clients and partners in the USA, winning large contracts with companies, such as, Baker Hughes and Ensco and recently with Exxon Mobil in Houston, where Atlas is providing a major new global learning framework, one of the biggest roll outs of e-learning in the oil and gas industry.

John Rowley, chief executive of Atlas said: “ Our experience working with oil and gas clients in the United States and the North Sea, which has some of the most stringent workplace safety standards in the world, means we are ideally placed to work closely with our clients to ensure their workers have access to tailor-made, best-in-class, training materials and courses. A well-trained workforce makes for a safe and competent workforce and it is clear that these global employers must put greater focus on ensuring all their employees in every region that they operate in have access to the best training available.

“We are fortunate to have someone of Lambert’s calibre and experience to drive our business forward in the region and further promote the importance of safe and competent practice in the global energy industry.”

Mr Ebot said: “It’s an exciting time to be joining Atlas and a great opportunity to bring my experience and apply it to an industry-leading training company. Atlas has the right people, the right skills and the drive and enthusiasm to succeed, all essential components in achieving its global aspirations.”

In the last two years, employee numbers have risen to over 100 with its client base in the USA and globally rapidly increasing and with exports now accounting for over 50% of its sales.
