Managing compliance the easy way at the Royal Brompton & Harefield NHS Foundation Trust

The largest specialist heart and lung centre in the UK and amongst one of the largest in Europe, the Royal Brompton is known for highly skilled staff, many of whom are experts in their chosen fields. Learning and Development is key to the success of the trust, and with over 3,000 staff completing 19,000 classroom based and e-learning training events annually, it is essential the course management, training and reporting is timely and accurate.
Prior to 2009, the Trust managed courses using a standard system which was slow, inflexible and time consuming. Following a rigorous supplier search, accessplanit were chosen by the Trust to provide a learning management software platform to deliver key benefits, in particular the reduction of compliance risk.
Three years on, the Trust is delighted with the results. Paul Mendes, Head of Learning and Development explains: “The ROI benefits are tangible, we have made an annual 50K saving through the automation of laborious time consuming administration. The added benefits are accuracy, control and instant access to information. For example a report that previously took two and a half hours to produce now takes less than ten minutes.”
The Trust has also taken advantage of accessplanit’s unique capability to refine the system to meet individual client needs. Associated additional benefits include the improvement of non-medical appraisal compliance which has increased sevenfold since 2010.
Accessplanit’s relationship with the Trust has recently been extended with both parties delighted with the results.
