Virtual College supports pioneering programme at community arts charity
Ilkley-based online learning provider, Virtual College, has donated £5,000 to help Hive fund a pioneering woodwork and technology project.
Hive is a community arts charity based in Shipley, West Yorkshire. It uses creativity to promote personal development and well-being amongst the most vulnerable and disadvantaged groups in the Bradford District.
Joy Hart, Manager of Hive, commented: “We are delighted that Virtual College is supporting the work we do.”
“The funding will go towards a project that will inspire interest in creativity at the early stages of young people’s development.”
Hive will deliver practical sessions to young people enabling them to learn about programming within a context of hands on making and exploring three dimensional design.
These activities will combine traditional woodworking skills and technology to make intelligent and programmable automatons.
Virtual College’s Health and Social Care General Manager, Abby Dacres, said: “We are pleased to be able to support Hive’s work.”
