Daisy Chain Charity on track to hit fundraising target after Safeguarding Children Donation
Charity which supports at least 800 local children every year does not have the funds to complete the building and are desperately seeking £45,000 to complete the sensory play room.
Daisy Chain is a unique charity established to address the needs of both children with autism and their families. Based on 5.5 acres of rolling farm land in Stockton-on-Tees offers a respite service and a chance for families to come together with other people living with autism to share experiences.
Autism is much more common than most people think. There are over half a million people in the UK with autism - that's around 1 in 100 people, and when you include family members and professionals involved in the care of people with Autism, this number raises to 2.3 million.
Daisy Chain - Safeguarding Children e-AcademyThe Safeguarding Children e-Academy, one of the UK's largest suppliers of online child protection courses, has donated £2,000 to Daisy Chain and has also pledge ongoing support year on year. The decision to give to Daisy Chain was made after the Academies 51 members, mostly made up of Local Safeguarding Children Boards across the UK, voted on who should receive the donations. The money will go towards a new Day Care Centre and specifically a sensory play room.
The new centre will be used by children with special needs and provide part of the respite services at the farm. This means that they will provide support groups and activities for parents while their children are being cared for within the Day Centre. This support is vital to enabling families to maintain their cohesion and family life through the strains that can be evident when looking after a child with Autism.
The completion of the new building will result in a comprehensive support facility unique in England.
