The eLearning Network Announces New Chairman
The eLearning Network (eLN), the UK’s foremost professional association of users and developers of all forms of eLearning has announced it has appointed Clive Shepherd to its new chairman and Neil Lasher as deputy chair.
Clive Shepherd is an independent consultant specialising in the application of technology to learning and communications at work. Outgoing chairman Phil Green said:
“With over twenty five years of experience, Clive is acknowledged as a leading figure in the UK in technology-assisted and blended learning and the eLN is honoured to have him as its new chair.”
Clive has an MA in Management Learning from Lancaster University, is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development and the IITT, and is a Member of the Chartered Management Institute. In 2003 he received the Colin Corder Award for services to IT training, and in 2004 the award for Outstanding Contribution to the Training Industry at the World of Learning conference. He has written many published articles and books and has a blog, Clive on Learning.
He said:
“I’m proud to be given the chance to help steer the eLearning Network through an exciting period of growth and change. ELearning is growing rapidly, not only in its uptake but also in the breadth of opportunities that it provides. It’s our aim to bring together all those working in eLearning to collaborate in exploiting these opportunities and, as a result, provide benefits to employers and employees throughout the UK.”
Neil Lasher, who runs Trainer1, a full service eLearning company, has almost 30 year’s experience in IT and learning. Renowned as a 'Master' of eLearning instructional design, Neil is a well known figure in the eLearning world and has presented courses for delegates in the UK, USA, Russia and Europe.
He said:
“Having worked as an eLN committee member for the last few years with some of the finest people this industry has had to offer, I am excited by the opportunity to work now as Vice Chairman with Clive Shepherd and a committee of enthusiastic experts. Together this year we hope to be able to steer the eLN into a new area of growth and create a network that will become an essential port of call for anyone who uses technology for learning.”
The eLearning Network, which celebrated its 20th anniversary this year, is a non-profit making body that exists to promote information and best practice among the eLearning industry.
