The Ken Blanchard Companies announces major new learning design for Situational Leadership II – The SLII Experience
For nearly 30 years Situational Leadership® II (SLII®) has been the world’s most widely taught leadership model, relied upon by some of the best global organisations. Now, its creators The Ken Blanchard Companies have launched the new ‘SLII® Experience,’ a results-focused, interactive learning module using apps, games and virtual learning design options as well as fast-paced classroom training.
SLII® teaches leaders how to identify and choose from a range of appropriate leadership styles depending on the situation, as opposed to falling back on their default position of using a single and often inappropriate leadership style. The SLII Experience immerses people in SLII quickly, deeply, and effectively, flipping traditional classroom training so participants learn fast and practice slow. Learner participation, engagement, and excitement is increased and technology is used extensively to engage the learner, who can access leadership training content online before, during, and after the programme. The new design offers self-paced e-learning whenever possible to accommodate the competing time demands we all face, but still provides the deep practice that only comes from experiential classroom work. Short, rapid learning scenarios and skill-building is focused on real work issues which challenge participants to demonstrate their familiarity with the content.
Some of the key features The SLII Experience include:-
- An SLII Fitness Test that measures leadership intelligence and results in a "before, after, and back-then" approach
- Video episodes produced in a modern television-program style, which depict realistic workplace scenarios in an entertaining way that engage participants with the content
- A mobile app that helps leaders quickly "diagnose" a situation and practice the right leadership style
- A self-paced 12-module online game called "The SLII Challenge" that allows learners to reinforce and deepen their skills while accumulating points
- An online learning portal with access to all of the videos, worksheets, and reinforcement tools, which learners can use back on the job with their teams
Self-paced e-learning tools reinforce and internalise the material and provide support for when participants teach the concepts back to their teams. Providing access to a participant’s team members is a partnered approach that gets an entire team speaking the same leadership language.
