Saffron to reveal dramatic survey findings in knowledge management webinar hosted by Learning & Skills Group

Saffron Interactive, leading innovators in the learning technologies sector, will be giving a webinar hosted by Don Taylor of the Learning & Skills Group on knowledge management on 4 September. Revealing the shocking results of its recent survey, Saffron’s webinar will explain the shortcomings of the conventional knowledge management systems, and demonstrate how implementing semantic systems allows organisations to turn information into applicable insight.

The findings will be expanded upon in a business solutions workshop to be held at the Learning Live event itself on 11 September at 3:15pm in Bishopsgate 1.

Saffron’s research shows that a surprisingly high proportion of employees prefer to use Google to find information on best practice, rather than their own enterprise knowledge management systems.

“We know from our experience that knowledge management systems are often ineffective”, says Toby Harris, platform product manager at Saffron, “But what we found was worse than we had previously imagined. Archaic knowledge management systems really are holding businesses back. Insights that could prove valuable are being wasted due to restrictive functionality which makes collaboration impossible.”

“For example, an extremely low number of survey respondents said that they were able to rank resources according to their usefulness,” he continues. “All too often, people are re-inventing the wheel when it comes to business process because they simply haven’t got a knowledge management system that they trust and engage with.”

Saffron’s webinar will explore how the techniques of the semantic web, based on search and user profiling, can be used to create or renovate knowledge management systems so that they are capable of driving change, ensuring productivity and building new revenue streams within organisations.

“A lack of effective knowledge management is costing businesses massively. We want to ensure that stale repositories are a thing of the past. Insight is something that should be spread across organisations, rather than being confined to pockets of concentrated expertise” says Noorie Sazen, CEO at Saffron Interactive.

“This webinar will introduce knowledge management as something capable of providing tangible improvements in business practice and drive profits and growth. We hope that in the future, staff will also be able to contribute and rank information through every level of the business. Sharing insight is the cornerstone of an evolving business.”
