QA celebrates National Apprenticeship Week - More young learners start 6 month development programme
QA, the UK’s leading learning services provider, has kicked off National Apprenticeship Week (23-27th February) by celebrating a group of new learners taking their first steps towards achieving its new Credit-based apprenticeship Diploma qualification.
Running in London, the programme provides a combination of the practical certifications needed for a job in IT, combined with the personal development skills that will make sure that the young people are able to quickly adjust to life in the workplace. Including certifications from Microsoft and CompTIA, the programme provides a qualification at Level 3.
Head of Apprenticeship Learning at QA, Les Meadows, comments: “This apprenticeship provides young people with a springboard to a successful career in IT and so we’re really excited to be starting another programme of learning. We think it’s really important for young people to be confident they’re getting the right skills – and that they’ll be able to get a job when they’ve finished studying. To make sure of this we’ve worked with our corporate and public sector customers to make sure that the apprenticeship programme provides the qualifications they want for entry-level jobs.”
One of the current apprenticeship programme learners, Joe Guard, adds; “I’m currently 18 years old and I left school this year after getting 4 A Levels. I wanted to go on an apprenticeship course in order to gain more skills in IT, which is the industry I want to get a job in. I applied for an advanced apprenticeship with QA and so far I feel that the course is going well, and it’s what I expected. I have learnt a lot of new things which will help me in future employment and I am looking forward to completing my apprenticeship and using my new skills and knowledge within my first full-time ICT job."
