QA-IQ, the UK’s leading learning company, has been engaged by Manchester City Council to develop and deliver the training for its leading project management programme as part of a three-year contract.

To ensure consistency and reliability in the delivery or major projects, the City Council has developed a public sector tailored model for project management. This model, the “Manchester Method” is widely used by others within both the public and private sector.

QA-IQ has worked with the City Council to update the Manchester Method, to reflect the growing diversity of projects which the council delivers. This new version is being supported by training modules which focus on the different roles within the methodology, developed and delivered by QA-IQ.

Manchester City Council’s Strategic Planner, Kevin Fletcher, explains; “Strong project management skills are central to achieving the ambitious plans for the City of Manchester. Our aim is to achieve better outcomes for the people of Manchester through the effective delivery of projects. Our initial priority was capital projects, however we have now widened the scope of our project management approach to include change projects within service delivery.

“We selected QAIQ as our training provider due to their industry experience, cost effective delivery and their desire to help us achieve a higher level of project maturity within the organisation.”

Head of the Project and Programme Management Practice at QA-IQ, Steve Moran, adds; “This is a great opportunity to deliver the innovation that will help take Manchester City Council to another level of project management maturity. The Manchester Method is recognised across the industry as a tailored working model for project management and the new version will provide further ‘real-world’ organisational challenges in every project undertaken. This is something that QA-IQ feels is central to the success of all training, making this programme a great fit for our expertise. We are working with the council over the next three years to evolve and maintain an industry-leading programme.”
