One of QA-IQ's leading Microsoft instructors, Darren Burford, will be a finalist for the Institute of IT Training (IITT)'s Trainer of the Year award in 2007.

The award recognises exceptional ability in delivering training, as well as broader skills in needs analysis, learning development and teamwork. The successful entry included strong demonstrations of Darren's technical ability and innovation as well as his popularity with delegates and senior customers.

Darren is the co-author of QA-IQ's leading .NET curriculum, and teaches a wide range of courses focusing on web technologies. Darren is also involved in the delivery of a bespoke programmes developed to meet the precise requirements for developing the skills of specific teams. An important part of the success of these programmes is working closely with the customer to understand their requirements - as part of the solution Darren develops practical sessions, which mean that teams are able to immediately apply their new skills in the workplace.

Director of Learning Solutions at QA-IQ, Brian Sutton, strongly supports Darren's success; "Darren is an energetic and accomplished instructor who brings enthusiasm and passion to the courses that he teaches. He is a widely respected expert in the area of web development, particularly with ASP and ASP.NET but he also understands the role and importance of informal learning. In an important application of this enthusiasm he has used his prowess with technology to create and maintain a personal blog to share experience and knowledge within the community and keep past delegates up to speed with developments since attending courses."

The six finalists for this award will be judged on the basis of presentations to a judging panel in December this year, with the results announced at the IT Training awards Dinner held on 1 February 2007 at The Dorchester, Park Lane, London.
