Atos Origin’s IT project managers achieve an outstanding success rate in PRINCE2 project management skills adoption.

For many organisations, project management skills are increasingly high on the agenda – helping to ensure that vital projects are delivered on time and within budget. This is especially true for IT project managers, who are often responsible for high-profile, business-critical initiatives.

Leading IT services organisation Atos Origin has just given its project management skills a boost, with the highly successful implementation of a significant PRINCE2 project management training programme – for over 130 IT staff from within Atos Origin’s systems integration and managed operations divisions.

PRINCE2 (PRojects IN Controlled Environments) is the de facto standard for IT project management, and is used by organisations worldwide.

The training was delivered by Xpertise, the UK’s leading provider of accredited IT training. According to Xpertise’s commercial director, Bill Walker, Atos Origin’s success rate was far higher than average, reflecting the commitment of those who attended the training. Says Walker, “Our examination pass rates already lead the industry, but the pass rates of Atos Origin’s workforce were truly outstanding. PRINCE2 examinations are notoriously tough – you can’t just ‘wing it’ and pass. You really need good training, to apply yourself and to have learnt the PRINCE2 methodology thoroughly.”

With a pass rate for PRINCE2 practitioners of nearly 90% and a flawless pass rate for PRINCE2 foundation examinations of no less than 100%, Atos Origin’s Learning & Development Manager, Marie-Pierre Gouaux, has good reason to be pleased. “These exceptional results are a real credit to all of those who undertook the training - and act to underpin our reputation as a world-class provider of IT solutions.”

Atos Origin is earning a strong reputation for its IT skills development programmes – for example, Gouaux herself was the winner of The Institute of IT Training’s ‘training manager of the year’ award for 2005.

“With today’s information technology, you can’t sit on your hands,” says Gouaux. “You have to keep pushing forward, developing skills and keeping yourself at the leading edge. It’s the only way to remain successful. Raising the bar in terms of project management skills not only adds to our abilities but also to our professional credibility.”
