Open LMS, the largest commercial Moodle provider in the world, has launched E-Learn Magazine, a free thought leadership initiative and digital content platform that contains perspectives, discussions, expert analysis, research, and best practices from practitioners in the education and training community.

Open LMS, the world’s largest commercial provider of the Moodle open-source learning management system (LMS), has launched its latest initiative, E-Learn Magazine.

With a goal of celebrating innovation and excellence in education, E-Learn Magazine is a collaboration platform for the Open LMS, Moodle, and EdTech community to discuss topics and issues in an online publication. The initiative is designed to help this community, which has experienced significant disruption since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic, share insights, perspectives, and best practices. The intention is to help make educational technologists, instructional designers, professors, teachers, trainers, and learners more successful in their roles.

Launching with over 120 articles, including op-eds, interviews, infographics, and customer snapshots, E-Learn Magazine is available in English and Spanish with new content published quarterly. Topics are aimed at K-12, higher education, corporate training, and government communities, and include:

  • Learner engagement
  • Academic integrity
  • Instructional design
  • Plagiarism prevention
  • Student-centered learning
  • Learning analytics
  • Professional learning and development

“At Open LMS, we believe that education and training have the ability to transform lives. We want to support and celebrate amazing educators and their innovations,” said managing director, Phill Miller. “We hope that the E-Learn Magazine enables them to tell their stories to inspire and help their colleagues to change the world. This initiative is built to be a voice for those on the frontline in education, training, learning, and technology—What’s current? What’s challenging? What’s working? And what’s not?”

In the spirit of an open forum, the content is authored by Open LMS experts, as well as its partners and clients. In addition to community-driven content, Open LMS is leveraging expertise drawn from across its parent company, Learning Technologies Group plc (LTG), to provide valuable thought leadership. LTG, a global provider of learning and integrated talent management solutions, acquired Open LMS in March 2020. E-Learn Magazine, therefore, includes insights from sister companies, LEO Learning (learning content, strategy, and technology specialists working primarily with large global organizations) and PeopleFluent (provider of talent acquisition, talent management, and learning management solutions that help companies build and power a more productive workforce).

Manuel Rivera, Editor in Chief of E-Learn said, “Open LMS is committed to learning innovation, student success, faculty engagement, organizational performance, and institutional effectiveness. Launching E-Learn Magazine fits our mission perfectly. We’re convinced that E-Learn is a meaningful way to keep an active conversation with our community, to learn from them, and how they are facing their challenges. Contributions are always welcome, and any member of the teaching and learning community can be part of this initiative.”
