'Potential' success becomes a 'talented' reality

Oxfordshire, UKLearning NewsMatchett

World-leading business skills and learning technology solutions provider, Matchett, recently held its most challenging event yet with a brilliantly received and insightful look at how to unlock the talent within organisations.

As part of an ongoing series of offerings around the subject, the invitation only event, 'Talent Management - Potential into Performance', gave delegates from organisations as diverse as BMW UK, British Airways and Bosch, the opportunity to hear from leading keynote speakers in the field of talent management, including Cisco's Chretien Van der Aa, Learn.Com's Michael Sabbag, innovative speaker, Jonathan Blain, and Matchett's own Antony Goodman.

The speakers at the event, held in London, shared their expertise and experiences of managing talent and provided answers to the question: 'How do you turn people's potential into top performance? Delegates also learnt how Matchett supports people development initiatives.

Carole Laithwaite, Matchett's director of Learning Technologies, said the extremely successful event more than tackled the strategic issue and provided usable solutions to a global problem.

She said: "We are an organisation with clients around the globe and being trusted to help deliver learning solutions for these large corporations, Matchett is well placed to spot trends developing and to create tailored responses."

Philippa Thomas, Matchett's director of Business Learning Services, said: "We've found the 'war for talent' as predicted by McKinsey back in 1998 is now a harsh reality for many organisations. Matchett deals with this 'war' day in and day out and we therefore absolutely have our finger on the pulse.

"But for us that's not enough. We feel there is enormous work to be done and information to be shared in tackling this clear strategic issue and we want to begin to offer a little of what we have learned back into the field of learning and development. The post-event feedback we have received shows that many feel the same way.

Carole Laithwaite agreed: "In holding this fantastic event we were able to provide our delegates with an enviable insight into how to establish a framework for turning people's high potential into top performance.

She added: "This event clearly demonstrated how at Matchett, we are passionate in our belief that high potential exists at all levels within an organisation - and we were able to prove through the experiential evidence of our clients and partner organisations that Learning & Development can be the key to unlocking and leveraging that potential."

As part of Matchett's continued Talent Management offering there will be further activities and events throughout 2008, including webinars, roundtable events and the release of 'must have' case studies. Further information will be available in the New Year.
