New Certificate in Designing Online Learning Launched by the Learning and Performance Institute

Coventry, UKLearning NewsLPI (Learning and Performance Institute)

The Learning and Performance Institute has announced the launch of a brand new certification programme, the ‘Certificate in Designing Online Learning’, developed to meet the needs of anyone who needs to design courses to be delivered in the live online (virtual classroom) environment.

This new certification programme is designed to provide learning and development professionals with the most up-to-date tools and techniques required to develop learner-centric design skills to support their live online courses.

“The live online environment is very different to the face-to-face one. It is a proven fact that to be able to ensure the success of any live online learning event it is vital that they are expertly designed to ensure that the learner can understand the content, and more importantly be able to apply what they have learned back on the job,” explained The LPI’s Chief Executive, Colin Steed.

“Courses need to be transformed to accommodate the live online environment and the way people learn online, and course designers need to be fully conversant with the technology and all of the interactive facilities it provides” he added.

Michelle Parish, an LPI Consultant and the lead facilitator on the new CDOL course and its sister course, the popular COLF certification said, “To quote a saying from a film, ‘if you build it they will come!’ But for ‘live’ online learning events, that is not strictly true – the learners may come but will they stay? Will they be engaged and will learning transfer occur? For live online learning events, it’s not simply a matter of pulling a few slides together. It’s about how that session should be built and the considerations that go into building an engaging and collaborative experience – an experience that will retain your learners for the duration of the session and enable the learner to meet session objectives. If you want to know how – you need CDOL.”

The course is available via the WebEx Training Centre and Adobe Connect platforms and live online sessions are conducted twice a week for three weeks. Participants may register now with the first course beginning in January. Introductory rates are available.
