The first two recipients of this excellent sponsorship initiative are Jake Blowers and Scott Cocks, both from DAF Trucks Limited.  The candidates were chosen by an IMI Awards panel from applicants who had recently completed either an IMI Awards management qualification or received Automotive Management Accreditation.  Both Jake and Scott, who previously achieved their IMI Awards Level 4 management qualifications at City of Bristol College, were delighted to be chosen for the BSc programme.

Speaking at the recent induction day at Loughborough University Scott said: "I am so appreciative of IMI Awards for this opportunity, it will provide me with a skill set that will make a real difference, both for the company and in my future career.  I started my technical apprenticeship with Skillnet and DAF Trucks have been fully supportive of my career development since that time.   I will now be able to demonstrate a continued return on investment as a result of this initiative."

The induction day, which was conducted by Professor Jim Saker, Director of the Centre for Automotive Management at Loughborough University, was very complimentary of the IMI Awards initiative to support of those wishing to extend their automotive learning into higher education.  He said: "Our programme is the only one of its kind in the UK, it offers bright young people with aspirations to become future managers and leaders in our sector, the opportunity to further develop their talents."

Jake Blowers, Technical Support Engineer at DAF Trucks was also delighted to be chosen by  IMI Awards.  He said: "My career development is really important to me and this kind of opportunity may not have been possible before, so I am extremely grateful to IMI Awards and DAF Trucks.  I am looking forward to the challenges the BSc will bring, but also to demonstrate how this kind of qualification can benefit us and the companies we work for."

Attending the induction day which was held at the Ford sponsored Centre for Automotive Management on the university campus, Jane Allan Marketing and Communications Manager at IMI Awards said: "As a not for profit organisation, IMI Awards are always looking at different ways to reinvested in our sector.  We believe this sponsorship initiative demonstrates our belief that management qualifications are a key driver to success of the retail automotive industry.  Investing in our aspiring managers now will bring dividends for many years to come.  We look forward to following the success of Jake, Scott and those who will benefit from this initiative in the future."
