The Institute of the Motor Industry (IMI) congratulates both the Sytner Group and Peter Vardy Limited on achieving places in the Sunday Times newspaper's annual 'Best Companies to Work For' list. The Sytner Group finished sixth in the 'Best 20 Big Companies' list with Peter Vardy Limited finishing in the top 100 companies list

The list, now in its ninth year, is compiled from assessments of employee satisfaction and both organisations scored very highly in this respect.

73% of employees at the Sytner Group love working for the company with 78% being proud to work for the retail group. The Sunday Times report showed that Sytner favours promotion from within and drew up personal development plans which encourage career progression, this is reflected in the fact that all but one senior director worked their way up through the organisation.

Peter Vardy Limited made the list for the first time with 81% of employees feeling that they can make a valuable contribution to the success of the company - the third highest for all 100 companies. The report states that at a time when many car dealerships are struggling, Vardy's approach has seen sales increase and they have plans to expand their business in the future.

Commenting on their places in the list, Sarah Sillars, Chief Executive of the IMI said:
"This is a fantastic result for both organisations and our industry in general. We are delighted to congratulate these good businesses in our sector who are still developing and supporting their staff despite these challenging times - true evidence about 'good companies to work for' in the retail automotive sector".
