GTSLearning offers Certified Ethical Hacker training; new online learning library targets security specialists

The first three weeks of 2006 saw the debut of more than 40 Windows viruses - almost all variants of known threats. In addition, a recent survey claimed that hackers are now exploiting poor security on home workers’ PCs to gain access to corporate networks.

Security risks are on the increase. With the massive surge in the use at work of portable media players, smart phones and high-capacity flash drives, downloads are on the up. However, as most people think of these as music and video, risks of security compromise are often not considered.

In a constructive move to drive security awareness and competency in the workplace, GTSLearning has today launched a flexible, comprehensive online learning programme for anyone with responsibility for security.

The new ‘Online Security Library’ has been created to target workers at every level of an organisation, providing learning from the most basic disciplines to the security implementation professional.

This programme gives access to 28 course modules, with many leading to key IT security certifications. Technical content ranges from Network Security Fundamentals and Security Awareness to Network Defence and Countermeasures. Certifications supported include the new Certified Ethical Hacker from the EC-Council, CompTIA’s Security+ Certification, Certified Information Systems Security Professional and the Security Certified Network Professional.

According to their levels of knowledge and responsibility, students will be able to pick and mix content from these leading programmes and develop a training track that perfectly suits their personal learning path or corporate requirements.

“The Certified Ethical Hacker programme is already experiencing strong demand and this blended content library should have a wide appeal amongst medium to large companies” said Robin Adda, Managing Director of GTSLearning.

The more technical security courses expect students to have a good knowledge of computer hardware and software, and GTSLearning is including CompTIA’s A+ Certification and Network+ Certification as optional pathways within the blended learning programme.

Robin Adda, Managing Director of GTSLearning added:
“Every day, our vulnerability to hackers and security attacks increases. We are constantly being told to protect our computers and infrastructure from security attacks, yet there is an underlying resistance to taking these steps due to the education costs.”

According to current estimates, the average cost of fixing or replacing a computer infected by a virus exceeds £250. In a larger company, this can quickly amount to hundreds of thousands of pounds following a virus attack or hacker intrusion.

“GTSLearning’s blended programme of online learning offers a cost-effective way of ensuring that your staffing skills are up to the mark and are definable against your company’s security objectives. We believe that it is the first complete solution of its kind to be offered.”
