Pioneer Blended Learning Programme Covers New Converged Telecommunications Technologies.

Global Knowledge, a worldwide leader of IT education and training solutions has, through its UK subsidiary, teamed up with telecommunications giant Motorola to deliver a training solution that covers Internet Protocol-based wireless networking. By participating in this training, both Motorola employees and customers can learn how to combine voice, data and multimedia into one broadband IP network.

The training programme is a Blended Learning Solutionä content offering and will combine standard existing Global Knowledge (GK) courses with new curricula especially tailored to meet the needs of both Motorola and its customers. Motorola Global Telecom Solutions Sector (GTTS) initially will develop this training curriculum in the UK during 2002, with plans for later availability to its customers worldwide.

This agreement positions Global Knowledge as a training pioneer for the next-generation, leading-edge telecom technologies, such as 3G and Universal Mobile Telecommunications System (UMTS). The company's offering to Motorola GTSS consists of Motorola-branded courses for the staff of Motorola's operator customers that are integrated with Global Knowledge courses. The training solution also includes specialist General Packet Radio Service (GPRS) courses such as GSN Commhub and Gateway GPRS that are tailor-made for Motorola by building on learning modules from GK, Cisco and Motorola.

"This blended solution complements our existing wide range of Radio Access Network and Core Network courses and greatly enhances the training we can offer to our customers, network operators, for the benefit of their employees," said Susan Bauer, director, Motorola GTSS Technical Training and Documentation. "Well trained employees can improve network performance, which in turn can create greater customer satisfaction for the end user and customer retention for the operator."

To develop the courses, senior consultants from both companies mapped existing Global Knowledge courses against Motorola's curricula and Global Knowledge's GPRS instructors spent time with Motorola to gain a better understanding of the company's technology. The resulting courses are best-in-breed, highly targeted and focused on improving network performance.

"Working with a company of the size and prevalence of Motorola shows how important a total Blended Learning Solution is in today's training market," said David Grinham, Managing Director of UK & Ireland, Global Knowledge. "This relationship provides us with the unique opportunity to intensify our expertise in the convergence marketplace, as well as to operate as a truly global company. We are delighted to secure this opportunity and offer a more comprehensive education solution into this fast changing industry."

"Consistency of service and geographical reach were important factors in our search for a training partner, since we have customers all around the world," Bauer said. "Global Knowledge's global coverage, plus its international culture and multi-lingual capabilities met all of our selection criteria."
