Miracle on the Hudson: Prepare for Safety Wins OH&S Magazine’s New Product of the Year Award
DuPont Sustainable Solutions’ Miracle on the Hudson: Prepare for Safety program won the Occupational Health and Safety magazine’s (OHS) 2012 New Product of the Year Award for On-Site Training category.
This year’s contest attracted a record 62 products in 19 award categories, with an independent panel of three highly qualified judges choosing the winners. “Our judges were especially complimentary about the quality and the number of entries when they returned their score sheets this year,” said editor Jerry Laws.
Miracle on the Hudson: Prepare for Safety features Captain Chesley “Sully” Sullenberger III, who landed Flight 1549 on the Hudson River in January 2009. He shows how the four Cs – Competence, Compassion, Communication, and Commitment – helped him avert tragedy and save lives.
With his incredible story, Miracle on the Hudson: Prepare for Safety inspires employees to improve their safety habits and act decisively and authoritatively during emergencies.
“It is a great honor to work with DuPont, an organization that has a centuries old culture of safety and excellence, and I am very happy the work we have done together has been recognized,” Captain Sullenberger said.
Miracle on the Hudson: Prepare for Safety stresses how such job competency, hazard-recognition skills and safety habits must be second nature on- and off-the-job. In this way, the program helps employees increase their commitment to safety and transform their organizations’ safety culture.
This multi-award winning program also was recognized by the 2012 Communicator, Remi and Telly Awards. “We are pleased to be recognized for our commitment to quality training,” said James R. Weigand, president of DuPont Sustainable Solutions. “We are fortunate to have worked with Captain Sullenberger on Miracle on the Hudson. His insights and experience helped us create this engaging program that delivers timely and powerful safety leadership lessons to all employees.”
