Cylix has announced the release of its latest e learning course: Implementing Reasonable Adjustments for Students. Developed in collaboration with the University of Bath, the course has been written specifically for the HE sector and provides staff with the practical knowledge they need to meet their legal duties and treat disabled students fairly.

As Steven Price, Cylix’s Managing Director, remarks: “There’s a lot of confusion about what the law says and what it means in practice for universities. This, coupled with the fact that many people feel uncomfortable discussing disability, can result in the needs of disabled students being overlooked.”

Cylix worked closely with the Student Services team at the University of Bath over a period of four months to develop the new course. “We were delighted that the University of Bath chose to work with us on such an important new training initiative.” says Price. “The university wanted a course that was highly interactive and engaging for staff, which is the type of e-learning we specialise in.”

The course has a total run-time of 45 minutes and is structured into four bite-sized sections, enabling staff to study the course in short sessions and find the specific information they need, when they need it. The learning is complemented with a comprehensive mastery test that enables staff to verify their understanding, while enabling training administrators to track successful completion.

Throughout the course, Cylix makes extensive use of case studies and scenarios to explore how key concepts and principles can be applied in practice. As Price explains: “We didn’t just want to develop a theoretical understanding. We wanted to enable staff to implement reasonable adjustments effectively. Case studies and scenarios are vitally important elements in promoting transfer of learning into the workplace.”

The Implementing Reasonable Adjustments for Students course is available from today. To evaluate the course or find out more, contact Cylix:
