Fletcher made a companion of the Institute of IT Training
Steve Fletcher, a director of organisational development company Bray Leino BroadSkill, has been honoured by the Institute of IT Training (IITT) in recognition of his 25-year commitment to the industry.
One of only 20 or so people to be made companions of the IITT – the world's first professional body for IT training professionals –Steve has championed the cause of the 7,000-plus freelance IT trainers by helping to introduce an IITT annual award dedicated to recognising their achievements. The Freelance Trainer of the Year Award has now been running for four years.
Steve, who has been a fellow of the IITT since 2003, was invited to become a companion by the IITT board. As a companion he may be called on to act as a trusted advisor and serve on the institute's advisory board.
Set up in 1995 to raise standards of professionalism within the training industry, the IITT is the leading authority throughout the UK and Europe on IT training and development. It focuses on enhancing and recognising the skills and professional status of individuals and organisations engaged in training activities, and assessing the quality of training services. In addition, the institute has an unrivalled range of membership, certification, accreditation, events and bespoke consultancy services.
Steve says: “It is a great honour to be selected to be one of the few IITT companions. Having been involved in the industry for nearly a quarter of a century, I am still as passionate about the importance of trainer’s role today as I was when I first embarked on this path.
“I believe that core values such as integrity, fairness and ethics are vital in raising the IT training industry’s overall reputation and should always be preserved.”
