Unicorn to exhibit at Learning Technologies Conference and Exhibition

Bournemouth, UKLearning NewsUnicorn Training

The innovative eLearning company is returning to one of the L&D event highlights of the year, Learning Technologies Conference and Exhibition. Building on the foundations laid at last year’s show where Unicorn launched the Learning Ecosphere, visitors will be able to explore this concept further by putting into action an achievable learning programme, which balances traditional learning methods with more modern approaches such as BYOD and serious games.

Unicorn are back at the café this year but with a microlearning twist. Through a strategic alliance formed last year Unicorn and MicroLearn have joined forces to host the MicroLearn café. Since launching at Learning Technologies last year MicroLearn have more than doubled their eLearning catalogue and at this year’s show visitors will get the opportunity to discover how workplace skills and compliance training can be successfully delivered through engaging bite size eLearning.

There will also be the opportunity to hear Mike Hawkyard, Managing Director of Unicorn's BAFTA nominated games studio Amuzo give a talk in Theatre 8, Wednesday 31st, 11:45 - 12:15 about how to fly drones (the L&D way). In recent months, Amuzo have been encouraging children to build LEGO® models to rescue LEGO® Mini Figures trapped on erupting volcanoes and training people how to fly Star Wars™ Drones. In this session Mike might make flying a Star Wars™ drone live on stage look easy, however he has had a lot of practice (and crashes). Mike will explore how learning by making mistakes can help to reinforce learning, using the drone training mobile app as an example of how effective this type of learning can be.

On Thursday 1st February, Theatre 9, 12:30-13:00, Abi Pears, Head of Marketing at Unicorn and Alison Soper, Creative Director at MicroLearn will be discussing how to cut through the noise of the busy world we live in and effectively engage learners and change behaviour. The session will explore the parallels between L&D and marketing, specifically the approach to campaigns and how L&D can use this established marketing technique to embed behavioural change and successfully create memorable learning that sticks.

As well as the main café stand, Unicorn have an additional stand (Q8) where they will be launching their learning reinforcement app, minds-i. The app has been designed to help learners overcome the forgetting curve by harnessing the power of bite size microlearning. The app features a slick and familiar interface and gives ultimate flexibility to learners, supporting the BYOD trend the app can be accessed anywhere, at anytime. Visitors are invited to relax on the minds-i sofa, explore the app and discover how it can be used as part of a learning programme.

During both days at the show, Unicorn have some fun treats in store with two competitions and a drinks reception. Unicorn invite visitors to play their learning app, Quizcom which uses a familiar swipe model to test and reinforce learner’s knowledge, to be in with the chance of winning a giant plush unicorn toy. On both days Unicorn will also be hiding Learning Ecosphere segments in the Learning Technologies exhibition hall, upon finding a segment of the Ecosphere visitors should tweet a picture @unicorntraining and use the hashtags #BelieveinUnicorns #LearningEcosphere to win a prize. To finish off the first day at Learning Technologies, Unicorn will be hosting a drinks reception from 15:30 onwards, offering complimentary drinks to visitors. Those wishing to attend the drinks reception should visit stand P14 early on in the day to get their exclusive invitation.
