The Learning COLLABORATIVE, a coalition of 75 major global companies, has released the Empathy eBook for free circulation by employees and organizations around the world. Authored by Elliott Masie and Telly Leung, a partnership of learning advocate and Broadway performer, the eBook reflects the powerful role that Empathy is playing and will continue to play in how we cope with the changes and challenges of our times.

Elliott Masie says, “Empathy is so key and critical in these challenging and changing times. The past 12 months have been massively unprecedented, disruptive, and even volatile. Empathy has been an essential requirement to help our workforces, leaders, families, friends, and the world at large survive, grow, and learn from this pandemic. We have produced 30 Empathy Concerts over the last 11 months, and we are proud to co-author this eBook.”

Quotes about Empathy from the Field:

“Never has the skill of empathy been more critical in learning. As we pivot to new learning approaches to address new learning needs, intentionally designing for empathy becomes the foundation on which the future of learning must be built.”
- Richard Culatta, Learning COLLABORATIVE Dean and President of ISTE

“Empathy is always important, and never more important than now with all that the world is going through. Showing understanding, listening, allowing people space, and realizing people are responding and reacting differently than we are goes a long way. Empathy builds trust!”
- Amy Dinning, Main Line Health

“Empathy is understanding the difficulty that people are going through and working to be a part of the solution, so we can all enjoy the bounty of all this world has to offer. Developing people personally and professionally so they can use education to increase their marketability in the workforce is where empathy and the workforce connect.”
- Chad Williamson, CEO of Fluid Education

“The Pandemic has elicited and brought many emotions to the forefront. Empathy is CLEARLY one of those. Never in my 38 years in the L&D industry have I heard a word used more, or be requested more, as part of a learning strategy. This eBook helps bring that need to light as it shares practical experiences we can all learn from.”
- Bob Mosher, Learning COLLABORATIVE Dean and CEO & Chief Evangelist of APPLY Synergies
