Some 50 judges and over 150 aspiring examples of the UK’s brightest sales talent have met at the Beaumont House Hotel, in Windsor, for the judging of the British Excellence in Sales and Marketing Awards (BESMA).

The UK's largest association for sales professionals – the Institute of Sales & Marketing Management (ISMM) – which organises the awards, said that it was delighted with the number of nominations this year. Not only were there more nominations this year than for last year’s awards but this year’s nominations represent a 30% increase in the range of organisations putting forward nominees.

This year’s BESMA judges commented that they were impressed and inspired by the extraordinarily high quality of the nominees.

Speaking at the awards’ judging, Stephen Wright, the ISMM’s Commercial Director, said: “Since these awards are a celebration of the sales profession in the UK, it’s heartening to see that every one of the nominees in all 14 categories of the awards were knowledgeable, ethical and professional in their approach.

“As well as recognising individual and team achievements, the BESMA awards help to raise the profile and reputation of the whole profession,” he added.

The BESMA represent the UK's highest level of recognition for outstanding sales achievement. This year’s BESMA are sponsored by The Daily Telegraph, the Sunday Telegraph, Royal Mail, De Vere Hotels, Virgin Media Business, Maddison Media, Campaign Master, The Sales Management Expo, Ellis Salsby, Meta Lucid and Principal Hayley.

According to the ISMM, entering the BESMA:
• Recognises and rewards both top achievers and the use of best sales practice
• Enables employers to show sales teams the value they place on them, thus boosting team morale and increasing motivation
• Provides independent validation of an organisation’s sales and marketing talent and achievements
• Helps an organisation to gain competitive advantage
• Acknowledges the vital role played by sales personnel throughout the business world and raises the status of professional selling
• Enhances each award winner’s status and career development

The winners of the awards will be announced at the BESMA gala dinner, being held at the Lancaster Hotel, in London, on 26th May. For details about tickets to this event, call June on 01582 840001 or visit the ISMM website: www.ismm.co.uk
