Skills for Security calls for providers to influence occupational standards
The security sector’s skills body, Skills for Security, is inviting organisations in the sector to influence the next set of occupational standards.
Skills for Security, the security sector’s skills body, has been working with a group of employers within the sector to review the National Occupational Standards for Electronic Security Systems.
The draft standards are now open to wider consultation and will remain open throughout April 2018. Chief executive of Skills for Security, Peter Sherry, says that feedback from the sector is vital in shaping standards. “It’s really important that the National Occupational Standards reflect the genuine needs of the sector,” says Sherry. “We really need feedback from as many employers and organisations as possible to best inform this process.”
The suggested changes to the standard are highlighted in a specially prepared draft, which can be downloaded – along with a feedback questionnaire – from Skills for Security’s website.
The changes will be considered for approval during 2018.
“We’ve highlighted the changes to make it easy for people to comment, but we really do encourage others to suggest any changes that they feel could be either necessary or beneficial,” says Sherry.
